The Only Email Welcome Sequence You Need
If you want to make $$$
Heyo,
Welcome back to another edition of the Digital Brand Builders newsletter, a newsletter teaching you one actionable lesson you can use each week to build and grow your own brand online.
I want to teach from my own experience, so I’ll be sharing everything I’ve learned about starting and growing my personal brand and online business over the past several months in the hopes that it helps you do the same.
And by the end of each newsletter, I’ll leave you with a few action steps you can take to get one step closer to building your own digital brand this week.
Because I believe the future belongs to the digital brand builders!
Sound like a plan?
Oh, and if you missed last week’s issue on how to start an email list from scratch, you can read it here.
Alrighty, let’s dive right into this week’s lesson!
Here’s what we’ll be covering this week:
The only welcome sequence you’ll ever need to make $$$.
This Week’s Blueprint 🗺
After reading last week’s edition, (hopefully) you should have your email list set up by now. Or if nothing else, at least have a better idea of where to begin and why it’s so important to start one.
So I figured the next, most relevant topic to cover would be setting up your welcome sequence!
Because the thing is, as much as we say we don’t judge a book by its cover… that couldn’t be further from the truth.
We do. We all do.
First impressions matter a lot.
And if your email list is the book you want people to read, your welcome sequence is the cover people will judge.
So yeah… a welcome sequence can make or break your readers’ first impressions and determine if they’ll continue reading your newsletter.
So if you want to make a good first impression on your audience and turn readers into customers or clients, you need to make the most of your welcome sequence.
Here’s how to do just that ↓
Creating a Lead Magnet
We covered this a bit last week, so I won’t get too into it right now.
But if you want people to actually join your email list, you’re most likely going to have to incentivize them with something.
This is where a lead magnet comes into play. It can be:
• eBook
• Templates
• Case study
• Email course
• Notion document
Anything that will make your audience say “Oh, I need this and will gladly give you my email address in exchange!” (or something along those lines).
You can learn more about creating your lead magnet here.
Email #1: The Welcome Email
Remember how important first impressions are?
Yeah, well now that you actually have people on your email list… it’s important to thank them for joining and welcome them to your list.
• Welcome your readers
• Share the incentive you promised
• Set expectations for what’s to come
In reality, this email can be pretty simple and straight-forward. But the best ones entertain and get your reader excited to read more.
One of the best example’s I’ve ever seen is Kieran Drew’s welcome email. You can join his email list here and read it for yourself. You won’t be disappointed :)
Email #2: The Story Email
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:
The best brands don’t sell the best products. They sell the best stories.
The entire goal of your welcome sequence is to nurture your readers, build trust, and create a lasting relationship.
And the best way to do that?
Share who the heck you actually are!
• Who are you?
• What’s your story?
• Why are you writing this email?
Again, this email should tell an entertaining (and maybe even funny and inspirational) story that gets your reader excited to read the next one.
Email #3: The Problem Email
You’re writing your email for a reason. And your reader is reading your email for a reason.
Truth is, your reader is probably experiencing the same exact thing and going through similar problems that you were not too long ago.
So what’s the goal of this email?
To agitate a painful problem your reader is facing so that they have no choice but to continue listening to you.
Think about a problem or challenge you’ve overcome in your life that others are currently going through.
Then write about it in a way that sets up…
Email #4: The Solution Email
For every problem, there’s a solution.
And if you’re writing about a problem you once faced (and a problem your reader is currently facing), more likely than not, you overcame that problem and found a solution… right?
So by this point, your reader should be thinking:
“This person was going through the same thing I’m currently going through and overcame it somehow. They’re someone I should listen to and someone who can probably help me.”
And that, my friend, is exactly the reason we’re writing this email.
To share the story of how you overcame the impossible. Back against the wall. At your darkest hour. Maybe thinking you’d never make your way out.
But you’re standing here today and you did.
And that’s the story you want to share with your reader.
Because if they believe you can help them solve their burning, painful problems (and you’re able to prove you’ve done it yourself)…
There’s no reason for them not to become customers.
Email #5: The Ask Email
Your reader knows who you are ✅
Your reader knows they have a problem ✅
Your reader knows you can help them solve it ✅
Now all that’s left to do is pop the question (and no, I don’t mean that question lol).
I mean now that your reader likes you, trusts you, and knows you have a solution to their burning problem…
It would be foolish to not ask them to invest in your solution, right?
Your solution is whatever it is you sell:
• Course
• Service
• Program
• Physical product
Whatever it is, now’s the time to ask your reader to invest in solving their problem.
Right then and there.
And make it as easy as possible for them to say yes and give you their hard-earned dollars.
Here’s where you should link your product, ask them to book a call with you, share a case study or testimonial…
Because if your previous four emails did their job correctly, your offer should sell itself here.
This Week’s Action Steps 🐾
And there you have it!
